Worthington Garden Center

Worthington, Ohio, founded in 1803 sits on the crossroads of Rt. 161 (Dublin-Granville Road) and Rt. 23 (High Street.) Known for its traditional New England style, the homes in “Olde” Worthington are mainly two story homes, wood or shingle or brick exterior and many with full porches. The Village Green is used for community activities and on two corners sits the Worthington Presbyterian Church and the Worthington Episcopal Church with a very old and small grave yard in the rear property. Visit www.camtaylor.com to tour the wonderful homes currently on the market. Members of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World® we can help you anywhere in the U.S. and beyond!
Until somewhat recently, the village of Worthington was complete with a drug store, dress shops, gift shops, flower shops, and all that one would imagine a thriving town to have. Gone now is one of the long time flower shops, which has moved north to a new strip mall and the two long standing grocery stores. Kroger, just north of the “Olde” Worthington section, serves the community still.
One of the most known and looked forward to times of the year was when the old grocery store parking lot was filled with spring and summer flowers, directly on High Street. Visitors to Worthington were treated to a colorful display as they drove north or south on High St. Best of all served to supply us all with our annual and perennial flowers. It gave you a feeling of “here we are; a community which, though large, gives us the small town feel.”
Well, now we are back in the swing with our new outdoor flower store right on Rt. 23 just behind the old Dairy Queen and beside the CVS. The Worthington Garden Center, owned and operated by soft spoken and knowledgeable Jared Brankamp, the variety of offerings is wide. Jared grew up in Worthington and now attends Ohio State University. While attending school, he runs his thriving business. I have purchased hostas, geranium hanging baskets and flats of ferns. Two potted plants were purchased there to brighten the entry to our office at Cam Taylor Co., Realtors®. Recently driving by the flower “Shoppe” Jared was sitting under the awning playing his guitar as more and more customers were driving in to shop. So, in one stop you may be treated to music and a variety of flower and plant choices. Jared will even load them in your car so all you do is point out and pay! Credit cards accepted!
It is fun to have these independent businesses among the institutional world we live in. Welcome Jared and welcome Worthington Garden Center!
