Memorial Golf Tournament in Columbus, Ohio

I am not a golfer but my closest friends are. They are able to relax and enjoy and not be too competitive.

The Memorial Tournament, hosted at the Championship Muirfield Village Golf Club, Columbus, Ohio, is right around the corner. Kick-off is May 31, 2010 in Dublin, Ohio. The question today seems to be will Tiger Woods attend or not? With a bad neck, possibly not better by the end of May, the tournament may see fewer attendees if Tiger is absent. In the past, without Tiger, attendance has been down. While it seems that personal morals and professional golf are not related, it seems a shame to me that people might elect to stay away if Tiger does not play. Enough said about that.

Dublin, Ohio has been host to the Memorial Tournament since its beginning, Jack Nicklaus, its founder, being a home town boy, raised in Columbus, Ohio. The Club was build beginning in 1972. The first tournament was held on Memorial Day in 1974 between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf. The first actual Memorial Tournament was held in 1976 at the Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Muirfield is one of many housing communities within the Dublin, Ohio area and school district. Dublin has a newly renovated downtown area with shopping and restaurants, and the city has surely grown from a small crossroads in the past. The school system is strong and the community is a very popular area to call home. Nearby is the Columbus Zoo, with the just arrived white polar bears. Many are spending their leisure time roaming the zoo weekends and schools are making the zoo their end of the year field trips.
